As the story starts out, disturbing events take place, and I'm thinking Wtf. Alex is stuck in a situation with no way out. Zach is obsessed with her and will kill if she is not at his disposal. The sex they have is violent, but that's the way it has always been. Rafe comes back and wants Alex to pay for what she did to him. He is no longer the man Alex once knew, he is broken. Alex has wanted Rafe since she was 13 years old and even though he is angry and brutal she still wants him now- she thrives on his sexual abuse. Rafe may be angry with Alex, but he still wants her the way he did all those years ago and he will keep her safe. When the truth finally comes out Rafe is blown away. He lets Alex go, but she won't go- she is exactly where she wants to be. When Zach shows up all hell breaks loose, and things take an unexpected turn for the worst. The sex in this book is brutal but still hot. 
The ending is a cliffhanger.
